Estimation of irrigation water quality index in a semi-arid environment using data-driven approach

Abstract The primary objective of this study was to calculate and assess the irrigation water quality index. Furthermore, an effective method for predicting IWQI using artificial neural network (ANN) multiple linear regression (MLR) models proposed. accuracy performance each model evaluated at end paper. According calculated index based on 49 groundwater samples, Sidi El Hani aquifer good sufficient quality. Moreover, both ANN MLR performed well in terms actual predicted model, other hand, demonstrated highest prediction accuracy. results also revealed that computed values were close, with determination coefficients R2, RMSE, MAE about 0.95, 1.02, 0.90, respectively. As a result, proposed consistent sufficient. These findings will help guide management decisions future. can be used estimate semi-arid aquifers, but is dependent proper training techniques selection parameters.
